“Liebevoll geführtes Hotel”

The hotel is in a great central spot right on the beach and promenade, and there’s a guarded bike parking lot in front of the door. It’s a small hotel run with care; some parts have been renovated, like the rooms and dining area, while the reception and lobby still feel historic and incredibly cozy. I just don’t like the carpet in the rooms.

The hotel is run with great care and has character; you can feel its history, and everything, though not brand new, is beautiful and well maintained. The location sits between two worlds: one side is a rough neighborhood, the other an endless North Sea beach. You just have to accept that.

We appreciated the update because there was no elevator. The frozen drinks were a nice touch.

The location was fantastic, right next to the beach clubs on Zwarte Pad, and the sunny weather helped; it made a great base for exploring the rest of the city. We were pleasantly surprised by the all‑day coffee and tea service, the nostalgic décor combined with modern comforts, the nice rooftop terrace for hanging out and having breakfast. The room, however, got uncomfortably hot in the sunshine because there’s no air‑conditioning; a fan would have helped. Breakfast was fine, but the bulk‑brew coffee was undrinkable while a proper coffee machine with options sits elsewhere. I was also annoyed that my booking, which I’m sure included breakfast, turned out to be without it, so I had to add breakfast later. The booking paperwork was a hassle – our credit cards wouldn’t go through, and after five days of calls and emails and finally paying with iDEAL, the reservation was finally confirmed.
