The spot is beautiful, quiet, and you can see and hear plenty of birds from the balcony, plus monkeys :) Wendy was very friendly and arranged a fantastic night tour for us because she couldn’t do it herself. Remember to bring insect spray—there are many mosquitoes. The beds have a mosquito net and work fine. We couldn’t get hot water in the shower, but the host surely has a trick for that. The pre‑arrival communication was lacking. I sent a message through the booking app weeks before, and again a few days earlier, but never got a reply. I also didn’t receive a welcome message, which I did from all the other seven accommodations in Costa Rica. Eventually I sent a WhatsApp, and she responded. I wanted to book the night tour with her, which has great reviews, but she didn’t have a babysitter. Breakfast the next morning was also missed because her mother had a doctor’s appointment. I understand that, but it should have been communicated beforehand. I booked this place specifically for that tour and the cooking skills of her mother, not just the house. I didn’t want to write this earlier, but this morning when checking out I had to pay an additional 8 dollars for a waterfall that the house mentions but doesn’t list the cost for. It’s not about the 4 dollars per person— the waterfall is definitely worth it—but about the communication. Wendy is a friendly host, but we felt quite uncomfortable in this situation.
