“I wish other B&B had owners this thoughtful and nice but it’s Amsterdam so everything is small & compact.”
The owner was incredibly kind and left a welcome note on the door – those little touches matter. The mini fridge always had a juice box, a milk box, and about seven snacks (granola bars, crackers, etc.) in a bowl that gets refilled every night. He also kept a small book with his favorite restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and a map, plus plenty of books to read like the Anne Frank diary. The space is small and there’s a steep flight of stairs (he helps with suitcases, though), but that’s just Amsterdam. The location is excellent, though it’s right next to the Red Light District. If you stay on the left side of the adjacent street you’ll see typical tourist shops and restaurants on the right. We never went out past 9:30 pm and didn’t see anything truly inappropriate, except once (you’d have to look hard). It’s easily avoided, and as long as you’re okay with that it’s very safe and central to everything.
