Located 100 metres from Durban's Golden Mile beach, The Edward overlooks the Indian Ocean with Art Deco style decor. The hotel features a panoramic roof-top pool for sunbathing and sundown cocktails. Since 1911, The Edward has hosted notable guests, including princes, presidents, and celebrities. Half of the refurbished rooms offer ocean views, equipped with satellite TVs and reading areas.

The staff were really friendly and polite, very helpful, giving a lovely welcome and solving any problems with a smile; they also helped us plan our trips. The accommodation was very comfortable and the hotel is beautiful, right on the sea front. We experienced rather slow service in the restaurant.

The building is beautiful inside and out, spotlessly clean, staff first‑class everywhere at all times, and the location is fantastic, right across the road from the beach. We were extremely happy, but if someone wants to be in the centre of Durban city centre, they might need a taxi, which is cheap.

Clean facilities, beachfront, staff attitude to clients . Three quarter blanket (how can 2 people use such a blanket). Tv too small. Built balconies (accommodate smokers)
