“A wonderful quiet place just outside town with nice large rooms, and free breakfast.”

What a delightful surprise! Bananas is roughly a mile outside Altagracia city, a beautifully kept privately owned hotel with spacious private rooms and bathrooms. The staff were lovely, the wifi was excellent, and free breakfast was included each morning. The beds were large and comfortable, making it one of the best deals I’ve seen in almost two years on the road. No complaints from me.

“A beautiful hostel in a peaceful location, excellent staff and a 10/10 stay!”

This hostel sits in a stunning spot, offering peaceful, tranquil surroundings and gorgeous views of the banana farm—a truly relaxing place. Breakfast was tasty, the staff were outstanding and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The room was cleaned during the day, and when we left our Kindle at check‑out, the help we received to retrieve it was amazing and very kind. The value for money is insane; don’t miss it! Everything was perfect—we just wish we could have stayed longer.

“The place to overstay in Ometepe”

I got a solid 9 out of 10 for this place. The staff were genuinely friendly and offered great local tips, making it ideal for anyone staying longer in Ometepe. With a scooter or motorcycle, the rest of the island is reachable in a 20‑30 minute ride, so the location wasn’t a problem. The spot is quiet and good for rest. They run room service daily to keep everything tidy. The team is receptive and open to any concerns, always listening positively. Breakfast is simple but healthy, featuring mostly fruit, pancakes, eggs, and surprisingly excellent coffee that kick‑started my day. The only downside was a faint odor from the bathroom pipes; I just placed something over the shower drain and it disappeared. They promised a fix, but I shared this quick hack so future guests can enjoy the room right away.
