“Great hotel, comfortable rooms by the new campus of Westlake University”

The room was clean, large and very comfortable. The bed and the shower were particularly nice. Dinner was amazing in the hotel restaurant. The campus is beautiful. It takes quite a long time to reach the Westlake area by car but it is fine. Breakfast was not particularly good. Coffee was terrible and the range of western options was low and of low quality.

“The place to stay if you are visiting Xihu University”

The location was superb for my purposes (getting ahead of registration at Xihu University). The room was more spacious and comfortable than I had anticipated. Breakfast was adequate. The staff were accommodating and helpful. The only issue was some limitations with the staff’s spoken understanding (and speaking), but they made up for it by being proactive by writing.

“Clean hotel but lacking in services, staff were excellent in helping with ordering food from outside”

The staff went out of their way to help. The details are incorrect: there is no real restaurant on site, the Pavilion is only for breakfast, there is a local Chinese restaurant in a shared facility but it is not owned by the hotel and is very local. There is no room service because there is no restaurant. Breakfast started at 6.30 am, which in reality meant they started setting up around that time; on the last day half the options were still not available, but we couldn’t wait because we had a flight to catch. The location is away from everything, so there isn’t even a local shop to buy food.

The rooms are new, spacious, and very cozy, especially with a sofa and table that let you work. There’s a nice swimming pool and an independent restaurant that’s good. The staff are friendly, though only one man spoke good English, which made things a bit tricky at times. We had two issues with the air conditioning, but using a translator they understood and fixed it. For working at Westlake University it’s the best spot, and taxis around the city are efficient and cheap in China. The breakfast was a let‑down: only Lipton tea in bags—how can they offer such poor tea in Longjin, the home of the best tea in the world? There were essentially no restaurants nearby except the one in the same building, which was the main problem for us.

I stayed at this hotel and was a bit disappointed to find out it's actually pretty far from Xihu - we're talking a 40-minute drive. The hotel itself is relatively new, but there's not much around in terms of amenities. I can see why tourists might feel misled by the name, it's not exactly accurate. Overall, it's an okay place to stay, but be aware of the location.
