“Polecam”

Everything was fine. Everything was close… market, restaurants, gas station, great motorcycle routes. Easy, quick, and pleasant contact with the owner. We had an issue with hot water but managed to solve it ourselves.

We managed to check in and access our van after 11 pm because we were catching the late ferry, which was a bonus. Unfortunately that was basically the only positive. The van felt damp and had a musty smell. The lights in two of the bedrooms were blown. We were told the door handle had just fallen off the toilet and they didn’t have time to fix it, which happens, but the handle missing from the main bedroom meant you had to use the hook on the back of the door to close it, and that wasn’t mentioned. The shower also had a hole in its base, and it had obviously been there a while as my wife reported the floor felt spongy underfoot; I skipped it because I felt it was better not to risk it. The mattresses were all basic, but the double bed had more springs than padding, and if we hadn’t been so tired I doubt we would have slept at all. Every time I moved in my sleep a spring jabbed me to make sure I didn’t stay in!

“Decent enough, but lack of bedding and towels could be a real issue for some travellers.”

The property was clean and functional for a reasonable price, but no bedding or towels were provided. An extra £5.00 per person is charged for nylon sheets, and you have to make the bed yourself; overall, that feels a bit poor.

The location is brilliant and there’s plenty of space.

The location is quiet and convenient for the town centre, the caravan is comfortable and the welcome pack with tea, coffee, etc. is handy, and the bed is cozy. A small improvement would be adding netting on the windows facing the road side of the caravan to give more privacy instead of having to keep the curtains partially closed.
