“Horrid!”
I had to hold off on posting this until I could see if my perspective would shift, but it didn’t. The first thing that struck me was the dirty exterior and the entrance area—was this really what we had booked? I’d seen the hotel in The Shining look better. After an endless wait for someone to open the door, we were met by a frazzled cleaning staff member who didn’t even offer a greeting or a smile. She told us to hurry and leave our luggage until check‑in. As a disabled guest, there was no assistance with our bags and no lift. The cleaning staff, who apparently had no front desk staff present, pressured us to move quickly because she needed to finish the rooms. I told her I had something important to bring and that I would speak to her boss if she caused trouble. An angry woman passed by me, gave me a dirty look, and didn’t stop to greet or help with our luggage. I was visibly upset, but the employee seemed indifferent. We returned after 3 pm for check‑in and the young man at the front desk was unfriendly, unpleasant, and unprofessional. He handed us the key to the front door and said no one would be available to assist us with anything. We were basically on our own and had to keep the key safe. I asked him where our room was because we were exhausted and jet‑lagged. He told us it was upstairs and offered no help with our luggage. I just wanted to cry. He disappeared into a room below where the luggage was stored and sat at his desk. We were better off figuring things out alone. I asked him how to get to the room with my luggage and he simply pointed to the stairs and sat in his chair like, “good luck, Chuck.” The room was unbearably tiny, gross, and not what we expected. Leaving!
