All the staff were very pleasant and carried themselves with elegance, and even when I was alone the dining area felt considerate and safe; the young proprietress’s rice was outstanding. The only drawback was the steep, numerous steps leading up to the bath, which were quite taxing.

“Beautiful Ryokan in the countryside and delicious food”

The ryokan was a lovely, authentic Japanese experience with a great chill vibe. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner, which were absolutely amazing, with meticulous presentation and taste. The onsen, separate for men and women, is up the stairs from the main accommodation. Yoko-san, the proprietor, added lovely touches on my wife's birthday. Komoro is the nearest town, and we took a taxi every time; the ryokan can arrange it, and it’s about 5 minutes by car. Nothing negative—just that in this rural area, if you’re not near a taxi stand, it can be hard to summon one even with the Go app or Uber; we had to walk 2 km after shopping because apps wouldn’t pick up a ride.

“Magical place in a strange location.”

The meals were amazing, high‑quality food, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I loved the soba noodle class next door. The onsen was great but a bit of a walk away. The location was odd, right next to a power plant and a fair walk up the hill to the train station, which I didn’t expect. It’s fine if you’re okay with staying at a ryokan in a remote spot.

“Ruhig gelegene aber gut erreichbare traditionelle Unterkunft mit viel Komfort”

We stayed in a beautiful, spacious suite with staff who were extremely attentive, taking care of everything so nothing was missing, and the food was wonderfully tasty. It’s a recommendable spot away from the usual hubs, though the steep stairs could be a hassle for older guests and the tap water had a sulfur smell.
