Hereweka Garden Retreat

The peace and beautiful natural setting made us feel far from the city noise. We were treated to homemade jams, yoghurt, bread, relish and eggs that went wonderfully together. As soon as we left the car, the sounds of local birds set a calm mood and the view was breathtaking. The cottage itself was charming, with a fully equipped kitchen and panoramic vistas. This was the highlight of our trip from across the ditch – exactly what we needed to pause and let nature take over. There are plenty of hiking trails, including a nice walk into Portobello. If you’re looking for a reset, this is the place. Thanks to Peter and Anna for making it memorable. – Alex and Jody

“Peaceful and restful”

The place is secluded and peaceful, and the sunrise from the upstairs bedroom was beautiful.

“Einfach traumhaft !”

The most beautiful house we’ve had in New Zealand and across the South Island. The location is wonderful and quiet, with a stunning surrounding and a concert of Tui birds. The garden is lovely and the trail that follows is well marked. There was nothing to complain about. The hosts arranged for a friendly and helpful representative. We would have liked to meet them in person as well.

“Voortreffelijk verblijf in prachtig tuin.”

A magnificent little house in a beautiful garden. The Wi‑Fi was there but not very fast, probably because of the mountainous area.

“Un’oasi di pace e silenzio .”

The accommodation is excellent, warm and comfortable, equipped with everything needed and more. The owners are kind and caring. The house is an oasis of peace and serenity, with only the birds singing and the wind rustling the leaves. The fruit preserves are superb, and when paired with fresh bread and eggs they make the best breakfast. A big thank you to our guests for all the suggestions.
