The staff were always smiling and quick to reply to my emails before arrival, and the view from the breakfast restaurant was fantastic; I loved the spacious, warm‑looking wooden room and they honored my request for a second‑floor spot. The bathroom was extremely cramped – even a Japanese guest would find it tight, and I can imagine Western visitors would struggle to sit without hitting their knees on the door – and the shower leaked between the head and hose, leaving the spray weak (though the water was hot). The building creaked a lot as you walked, and tiny ants constantly lingered in the washroom. Although there were English instructions in the shower stall about towel and sheet changes, nobody explained anything at check‑in, so I missed them and had to take my towel to the front desk for replacement.
