The accommodation feels like a lovely home and the host is great, but there is a nighttime curfew and no elevator, so after walking around Japan for four days I had to climb to the fourth floor with bags and shoes that didn’t fit, which was a real hassle.

The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, but there are no kettles or cups in the room or at reception.

The room has a separate bathroom and a window; breakfast isn’t provided, but a Family Mart is nearby; the location is decent, with several buses and attractions like Silver Pavilion and Philosophers’ Path close by, and it’s not far from Kyoto University. The room and bathroom for two people are very small, and the bed is soft, but considering the price it’s still acceptable.
