The hotel’s design and décor were spot on, but the crowd was annoying and the room’s ground floor was noisy; everyone knocked on the door, making it hard to relax.

I had a great time and the staff were especially helpful, especially the front‑desk girl named Habiba who was very sincere and responsible.

I had a unique chance to meet many Afghan guests, which is pretty interesting given how hard it is to visit Afghanistan now. The front desk and restaurant staff barely spoke English—they didn’t know simple words like “detergent” or “ATM,” and they couldn’t speak Russian. Because of this language gap, they didn’t get my repeated questions about the E‑guest registration during check‑in, which led to an unnecessary argument at check‑out. The staff also didn’t know basic hotel amenities; they were unsure if the lobby ATM had cash and took 15 minutes to figure out how to print a receipt from the POS terminal. The restaurant says it’s open from 12:00 to 23:00, but by 20:00 they told me they could no longer serve food. Even though there are at least 30 seats, I was told the restaurant couldn’t accommodate me because there were already about 10 people. Breakfast was poor, and it’s hard to understand why 40 % of the food was gone by 09:00 when service runs until 10:30. The self‑service laundry has only one washer and one dryer. My room has over 10 light switches, none are labeled, and some won’t work unless the master switch in a corner is pressed first. It takes 3 to 5 minutes for the shower water to heat up. Given the hotel’s unusual location, some of these issues might be somewhat understandable, but for most guests booking through this platform, mandatory passport checks, security screenings every time you enter or exit the area, and the security risks are not worth tolerating the drawbacks above.

“Overall, I would expect better communication and customer service.”

After checking in, I was told the hot water in my room didn’t work and I’d have to use showers in a neighboring hostel building; this was only revealed after I had already paid and checked in. Despite this major inconvenience and the fact that the facilities were not what I had booked, I was still charged the full price. Guests should be told about such problems before payment or arrival, especially when it affects an essential facility like hot water and shower access. The inconvenience was not reflected in the price or addressed properly by the hotel.
