Located in Downtown San Francisco, the boutique Orchard Hotel is 2 blocks from Union Square. Everything was perfect!

The location and price were perfect for a short stay. The room's AC wasn't working, so they offered to switch rooms or bring fans. We took the fans, which arrived in minutes and cooled things off quickly. They also had a few filtered water stations. The bed was firmer than I liked, but nothing I couldn't deal with for a few nights.

Almost nothing. The hotel feels quite old-fashioned and, in my opinion, too expensive for what it offers. The facilities clearly need a remodel and upgrade. There was a noticeable musty smell and much of the hotel was covered in old, dirty carpet, giving a general sense of lack of cleanliness and maintenance. I was also surprised that, given the price, there was not even a complimentary water bottle in the room. Additionally, the front desk staff spoke only English, which can make communication difficult for international guests. Overall, the value for money seemed quite poor and the establishment fell far below my expectations for the price paid.

The front desk staff were super helpful and friendly, and the elevator was fast. The beds were comfy and the location was nice, even though SF itself isn’t what it used to be. The value for the money was great. The fitness room was small with little equipment, and I had to go to another floor for drinking water. They have filtered water in the lobby, but no glasses, cups, or carafes there, so you have to bring yours from the room. Other hotels have carafes right there, so you can grab one on your way in at night and have water for the morning.
