“Such a beautiful location and lovely stay”

“Amazing location, the real Lombok with breathtaking views and friendly people.”

The spot was incredible, with sunrise right over the mountains and fields, and the 4am dawn prayer call from seven mosques in the valley was a unique welcome—no alcohol there, so you’re bound to hit the hay early. We didn’t chat much with the staff; a quick hello while our room was being cleaned, then nothing else. Breakfast was supposed to be included but we never received it, which was a let‑down given how amazing the overall Sembalun experience was, especially with the locals. Maybe we should’ve pushed the staff harder, but it still felt odd for a homestay.

The location, the friendliness of the staff, and the quick response when we needed a last‑minute taxi were all great, plus the view of the crops was lovely. There was a bit of road noise and the bathroom didn’t have outside ventilation.

We enjoyed the view from the accommodation, the staff were very friendly and attentive, and the lodging itself was unique; it’s a bit away from the mosques, which can get noisy, but that didn’t disturb our sleep too much. We felt a chill at night, but the others were able to give us an extra blanket, which was very kind. We did miss having toilet paper.
