“Super zentral gelegen mit entspannter Atmosphäre”
The atmosphere was super calm and relaxed, and the staff were nice. The only downside was that we couldn’t use the “pool,” if there even is one.

Riad El Maktoub, a traditional Moroccan‑styled riad just 900 m from the medina and a 10‑minute walk to Jemaa El Fna, features a rooftop terrace, patio lounge, and air‑conditioned rooms overlooking the courtyard. Bathrooms showcase tadelakt walls and showers. Guests enjoy continental breakfast, optional Moroccan cuisine, tour arrangements, airport shuttles, and proximity to Marrakech Menara Airport.

Ismail was a fantastic host; he was very helpful and gave plenty of tips on how to get around the city.

The accommodation sits right in the middle of the souks, and the breakfast is very good. The pool is located in the dining area, so it’s a bit odd to use it. Be careful to walk with your luggage to the riad yourself instead of having a local transport it in a cart; they’ll charge you a lot and claim they’re from the hotel and it’s their job.

The breakfast was a highlight, with staff going out of their way to accommodate our gluten‑free needs, especially the lovely lady Quamar who greeted us with mint tea and a bottle of water, always friendly, hospitable, and smiling. The courtyard pool is charming, though tiny. The riad sits in the Medina, a 5‑minute walk from the main square, but it’s tucked into hidden side streets that Google Maps doesn’t map correctly, making it hard to find. Overall, it’s an acceptable option for three nights, but you have to be adaptable. Our room, the Mauritanienne, was practically in the main courtyard, so the windows couldn’t open, the room stayed pitch dark, and every little noise was audible with almost no privacy. The room itself wasn’t dirty, but there were a few ants in the bathroom and on the bed. The terrace was completely neglected and unused. A negative note about Ismael: unlike Quamar, he was unfriendly and very opportunistic; after check‑out he charged us €1.50 for a bottle of water, claiming it was an extra, when its real value was about 40 cents. He also often talked in the courtyard, and since our room was right in front of it, we heard everything, even night check‑ins.
