“Perfekt sommer eller efterårsferie, lige midt i smørhullet.”
The hotel has two sections. One, Candia, sits 50 m from the beach and is extremely close to all eateries. The little harbor feels cozy and isn’t as crowded on foot as Old Town. I’ve been visiting the harbor for 40 years and not much has changed. Compared to my old hotel, I get the same standard as at Christina for half the price. I arrived at midnight, but everything worked with a door code and a card on the board; check‑in is easy around the clock. I was a bit worried about the taxi cost—about 30 Euro—but the owners, who are Norwegian, and Maria handled everything, even showing me where to get real coffee for the coffee lover. Drinks are available at reception. There’s a small elevator for the upper floors. I never made it to breakfast, but it looked delicious. Every room, even the single, had at least one balcony, many with a sea view. The windows and doors are newer, so the hotels are quiet. Especially in Old Town, with many pedestrians, this was good. I recommend the 2‑room option; the tea kitchen is great and fully equipped. Supermarkets are everywhere nearby, but remember many close on Sundays; a few open on Sundays are closer. The best part, in my opinion, is that the hotel is a 10‑minute walk to Old Town. The food is tasty, everyone uses cards. I walk a lot, so carrying a Whiskas in my pocket is a smart idea—there are plenty of hungry cats in town, and you’ll make many feline friends. The cats are plentiful, no mice or rats spotted. Old Town Hotel Candia is a 10‑minute walk from Candia Hotel. The contrast with Old Town is clear: many tourists, restaurants, especially children. The little charming newly renovated hotel there is lovely, with a balcony right on the street overlooking the sea—no complaints. No TV needed; there’s plenty to see. The room is small but cozy, suitable for couples or solo travelers wanting to stay centrally in Old Town. The beds were great at both places. The only downside was a few days of wind and rain, but a jacket solved it. Nothing else I disliked.
