“Mäßiges Hotel, deutlich unter den Erwartungen.”
The room was spacious and clean with a nice balcony, but a dead cockroach lay there for three days and the outdoor bathtub was filthy; visually the place looked good, the soundproofing toward the neighboring room worked well, yet the hallway was noisy and you could hear everything from other rooms, and the 40‑minute drive to the Phong Nha caves felt far. On the downside, it was by far the most expensive of the five‑star hotels we visited in Vietnam (five hotels total) and offered nothing in return, it was fairly loud, staff weren’t very attentive and even a three‑star rating would have been generous; breakfast was a hassle with the buffet being cleared half an hour before closing to make way for lunch, the food catered almost entirely to Chinese guests who made up about 90 % of the clientele, large tour groups arrived by bus daily, were noisy, rude and monopolised the tiny rooftop pool, and the staff spoke only limited English but perfect Chinese, which didn’t suit us; we saw cheaper, closer and far better five‑star options in Dong Hoi, so I can’t recommend this hotel.
