Hanoi Grand Sun Hotel

They are not attentive, I booked 3 rooms, they never checked, so I occupied the one room on the 5th floor; after an hour, somebody knocked us…the (boy) staff is angry, he said why you occupied this room…I told him and showed my booking…when he came back he said sorry and gave one of us a key.

“Friendly service”

Peter, the owner, was very helpful before we even arrived and arranged an airport pickup that we truly appreciated. The receptionist was also friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The hotel feels a bit old, and both the building and the elevator are quite small, so there’s room for improvement in comfort and facilities. Unfortunately, someone mistakenly occupied our assigned room, so we were moved to a family room on a lower floor instead. While we appreciated that management offered an alternative room, the situation was inconvenient. I would suggest that management tighten their room allocation and security procedures, ensuring that rooms already assigned to guests are properly secured and that vacant rooms are locked to prevent accidental entry or occupation. Overall, we appreciated Peter’s assistance and the friendly receptionist, but better room management would help.

“Good place with reasonable price”

The location was good.

The location and the friendliness of the staff were great, but the noise was an issue; our room was on the first floor and we could hear the breakfast noise through the door.

“Would not stay there”

The location was fine and I could leave my luggage there until the room was ready. I didn’t stay there because they moved me to another hotel far from the old quarter. Their family stayed at a different hotel away from the old quarter, right next to the busy main road where buses and trucks pass very often. They overbooked their hotel and used the excuse that they found bugs in the room. After hearing this, I saw more reviews about the same issue. I declined the offer and wanted to book another hotel. After the decline, he drove me back to the hotel, and next to it was another family hotel, Hanoi Grand View. They offered me a room at the same price. Since it was my last day in Hanoi, I accepted to stay there for the same price as the booking. First problem: the hotel had no power upon arrival. It wasn’t the street that had a power issue, only the hotel. They asked me to come back one hour later. I came back three hours later and there was still no power. After a while power came back and I got my room. I took a shower and relaxed a bit, then suddenly the power was out again. That happened through the night several times and in the morning.
