The balcony dining area gives a view of Kanchenjunga, and the rooms look out over the mountains; it’s close to Pemagayatse.

“Mixed feelings about this one.”

The room and the property offer a nice view and an old‑age charm, but the front desk and restaurant staff were cold and unfriendly, a stark contrast to the hospitality I’ve seen at 5‑star hotels. Even though the location is remote, I expected a warmer welcome and better food; instead the meals were disappointing. In other, colder parts of Sikkim I’ve stayed in more isolated spots that served better meals with more variety and a pleasant attitude. Basic items such as room slippers were missing, and while the property has a nice vintage charm, it fails to deliver the basic comfort and warmth of a luxury resort where guests pay extra to enjoy themselves.

The heritage property is well maintained, the location is great, the food is amazing, and the service is excellent.

“Its definitely not worth the money they charge.”

The hotel is a heritage property with a view, but it’s quite old and poorly maintained; there’s no air conditioner, flies buzz inside the room, the windows are broken, and dust is everywhere. When I complain, they keep saying it is a heritage hotel.
