Located 200 metres from Gothenburg's main shopping street, Avenyn, Hotel Poseidon features classically decorated rooms with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, work desks, and private bathrooms with showers and toiletries. Some rooms include seating areas. The hotel offers complimentary newspapers, coffee, and tea in the lobby, as well as courtyard breakfast during warm months, and staff recommendations for local restaurants and Liseberg Amusement Park, a 20-minute walk away.

The breakfast was very good, the location is excellent—just two streets from the center—and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I can only recommend it. It does feel a bit dated and could use a renovation; a few extras would help (for instance, offering kettles or coffee in the room, and if there's a folding station in the hallway, a iron should also be available, along with making the beds, etc.).
