The countryside is beautiful and the area is amazing, but there was a lot of door banging that was rather annoying, and the toilet had no privacy from the bedroom.

The Wayside proved to be a strategic stop after visiting Salisbury, Stonehenge and Lacock; the owners were very kind and helpful, it felt like being in family, and the vegetarian English breakfast on request was fantastic! The room and bathroom were tiny.

The operators are very friendly and helpful, the rural setting is quiet and somewhere in the middle of nowhere… parking is in front of the door. The beds in England are always too short, so book a double room for single use from 1.80 onwards… The room was small and hard to move around the bed. It was a former children’s room with remnants of the original décor. The bathroom was ensuite but very small and not separated from the room, i.e. open to the room. The second room was fine with single beds and a separate bathroom over the hallway. The outdoor seating consisted of a low table with matching chairs.

I loved the area, the hosts were obliging, and there were breakfast items I liked. The bathroom is small, as I had read in reviews, but it was fine for me, with nice fittings/tiles and clean. The shower was good and the water was hot. Expect quirks in the small double. The carpet could use a replacement.

The owner was polite and friendly, the room was nice and tidy, and the area was peaceful. The nearest pub is a 20‑minute walk and is well worth it for the food. Nothing to add – it was perfect.
