Everything was clean, there was free breakfast, and it was well stocked, but the rooms were old and basic.

My stay matched exactly what I was looking for and paid for; the property is dated but it worked for me. I love Mexican food and ate there twice next door, and I’ll return if I’m in the area and need a room.

“Ugly. Had to drive an additional 50 miles to stay at sister’s”

I never actually stayed because I was surprised to learn a deposit was required on top of the room rate; there was no mention of it anywhere, not even on the registration page, and I’d never encountered a similar rule at other U.S. or European hotels. The staff wouldn’t let me check in until I had the full deposit, which I hadn’t been told about beforehand.
