“Sono stato benissimo!”

The hostel sits in a traditional Japanese house that the owner has kept in perfect condition with typical Japanese furnishings. The room was immaculate and, in every respect, splendid: the bed was a classic futon, and a sliding door leads to a veranda overlooking the garden. The owner is friendly and helpful, but I can't comment on his English because we always spoke Japanese. Finally, the property is a few train stops from Kansai International Airport, in a charming, historically rich town (I recommend visiting Kishiwada Castle, in the photo, and the museum dedicated to the Danjiri Matsuri, a traditional festival held late in the summer). The bathroom and showers are communal, but given the perfect cleanliness, the inconvenience is almost nonexistent. The site can only be reached on foot and is about 10 minutes walking from the nearest station (Kaizuka).

Good value for money. The old Japanese house has some inconvenient spots, but they renovated key areas and modernized it, so it was comfortable. Because it's a renovated Japanese house, soundproofing is weak; conversations leak, so it's best for people who can accept that.
