Wild Trails Yala by Suri

Because of the location you rely on the food at this accommodation. The dinner is good and flavorful. Eating outside at night in nature with torches is truly special. Waking up in the morning to monkeys running around your tent and on the roof is also special. Really right in the middle of nature. The shower barely works – no hot water, no water pressure and the shower head only has a few sprays. No air conditioning during the day, only after 1800 h, and it does almost nothing. The location is very remote, and it’s a half hour from the entrance of Yala NP. We found it more of a 4‑star accommodation than 5‑star. The tent is also simple. After dinner, breakfast and lunch at the accommodation, my wife got sick and we had to cancel the whole day safari around noon. We still had to pay for the whole day, which is a pity. We expected a little leniency. My tip: book a half‑day safari. Between 12–14 there is a mandatory break, and you cannot drive in Yala NP.

Our room was gorgeous, the staff were welcoming, the food was tasty, and the Safari organized by the hotel was amazing—far better than our experience at Minnerya—with an outstanding driver who managed to show us three leopards in one packed day; however, we found ants in the toilet and bathroom, and the overall comfort felt more like a tent in the wilderness, so anyone who’s uneasy about small bugs should be prepared.

“An amazing stay in a truly special location”

Wild Trails Yala by Suri sits right in the middle of the action for a Yala safari, so it’s a perfect base for exploring the area. Mr Suri, the owner, and Mr Uditha, the manager, along with the whole team, welcomed us warmly and made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding and the jungle vibes were spot on, making the whole experience memorable from start to finish. Highly recommended!

The tent vibe in the middle of nature yet still feeling luxurious was a hit. The pool was great for the kids. Dining under the open sky in the evening was a unique experience. The staff were reserved and friendly. The only downside was the queue that crossed our path in the evening.
