Gite de la Porte Saint Jacques: a hostel for pilgrims

“This was one of the most outstanding hostels along the whole Camino Francès, and their shared dinner and morning departu”

The dorm room was impeccable and inviting, and the shared vegetarian pilgrim dinner was delicious and generous. It gave me a chance to connect with other pilgrims for the first time; I kept up with many along the way, one person even finished the walk with me and we are now lifelong friends! The farewell ceremony in the morning was so special, and I often reflected on the message during the Camino. Everything was perfect; I just wish there had been more along the way!

This inn is the perfect place to start the Camino. The food was tasty, the terrace had a lovely view, and the staff focused on group spirit. The welcome was warm and before we left we had a nice moment of reflection.

“The perfect place to begin our Camino”

The place sits right next to the Pilgrim Office and gear shop, the cubbies are cozy with comfy beds, and there's a big stretching area for hikers. The hosts are very kind and they even offered a special Pilgrims’ blessing. Nothing to complain about!
