“Cancelled by the owner without notice”
We got to the property 1 hr 15 mins early and the owner himself approached us as soon as we parked and stepped out. We explained we hadn’t expected the room to be ready and apologized for the early arrival, but he was hostile, telling us that Jessica was on lunch. When we asked if we could relax by the pool while waiting, he said absolutely NOT. We then asked to sit at the garden chairs and tables near the parked cars; he reluctantly allowed it. While eating a sandwich and drink he came over in an unpleasant, aggressive tone and told us this was HIS house and we hadn’t asked permission to eat. We apologized, packed the food away, and he told us to go into St Emilion until our check‑in time. As we left we thought we wouldn’t have returned if we hadn’t already paid. He was very rude and aggressive, not welcoming at all, which made us uneasy about coming back. When we returned we noticed he was totally ignoring us even though he walked past several times. He spoke to Jessica, who then told us that the owner had cancelled our booking and we would get a refund. He never mentioned cancelling the booking when he sent us into St Emilion, which after the unpleasant greeting would have been a relief and would have given us time to find alternative accommodation. Finding ourselves with a cancelled booking after a long journey was very distressing and left us scrambling to find a place to sleep that night. After 45 years of traveling and staying in many types of accommodation, I have never experienced such an unpleasant and rude host. Unfortunately we hadn’t read the prior reviews in detail, but now we see this isn’t a one‑off.
The location is ideal, just a few minutes from St‑Emilion. Very comfortable. Charming hosts.

St Emilion is a beautiful village and our accommodation was really very pleasant, the owner was very friendly. Highly recommend.

We loved this place – Jess was so welcoming and breakfast was excellent, we could swim in the pool and the location was perfect!

We loved this place. The setting, in the middle of a vineyard, was wonderful with the lovely smell of grapes around us. Breakfast served outside was a lovely touch, and both the gentleman who checked us in and showed us around, and the lady who brought us breakfast and checked us out were friendly and helpful. Also, there were lovely little touches, like USB charge points on the bedside tables. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
