The hilltop spot was fantastic, staff were attentive, and the room was clean and cozy, yet breakfast only started at 07:30 after being told to order the night before, leaving no time to relax; it would have been better to have a fresh menu instead of hearing a list of items that weren't available.

“Заброшенный отель”

The location is great, sandwiched between the villages of Pancasari and Munduk, with a lovely view from the restaurant and the joglo‑style cottages are a nice concept, but the hotel looks almost abandoned—moss covers everything, the garden is overrun with weeds, many plants have died, the trees are rotting, staff, despite being numerous, didn’t even clear a dirty welcome‑drink cup from the terrace table for two days, the rooms weren’t cleaned and the beds were left unmade, breakfast served stale bread reheated in a microwave that hardened like stone after five minutes, Wi‑Fi was down the whole time, there was mold at the base of the walls, and a ceiling panel was coming loose, which is a real shame for a place that once seemed beautiful.

I love the spot—far enough from the buzz of central and south Bali, yet close enough to the Munduk waterfalls that you can walk if you’re up for it. If you’re not a walking fan, you’ll probably need a drop‑off or pick‑up. The waterfall trail works for all levels, though there are plenty of steps, and the return is a steady uphill climb that took us about 30 minutes. The rooms feel cozy and homey, with all the basics but nothing over the top. The staff are friendly and helpful, but they’re limited in what they can do. Dining at the on‑site restaurant is tasty, and breakfast is solid too. It can get chilly in the evenings because of the humidity, so pack layers. They connected us with a driver, Zai (spelling hopefully correct), who was fantastic navigating the tricky roads to Sekempul and handled a nervous passenger like me with ease.

The staff were very friendly and professional—Ayu was charming and always ready to help. The room was simple but fine. The food was incredibly delicious. The view is stunning, and the location is beautiful for disconnecting and enjoying a less touristy part of Bali. The only thing to note is there’s nothing nearby that you can walk to, but that’s part of its charm. The bathroom could use a little improvement.

The staff were welcoming and attentive, the setting was pleasant, and the stay went smoothly. The room wasn’t very clean, and the Wi‑Fi barely worked.
