“Neli almost messed it up !!!”
The conversation with Neli was the most frustrating adult chat I’ve had in ages. At 20h25 I double‑checked the check‑in time, saw it was 8pm online, and called the guest house for options. She kept pushing the 8pm cut‑off, asking how we would handle flights arriving after that, and told me it was our job to call and arrange, even though most of us forget because of work and long travel. I’d booked several places for the trip, so I had to check in multiple people. In this day and age, every place with an early cut‑off sends a reminder email or WhatsApp, usually automated, asking us to tell them our arrival time. Instead of being helpful, she asked what we should do, and we spent a long time on the phone with pointless questions, like why I didn’t check the times earlier. I was already overwhelmed. I paid in full and the stay was non‑refundable, so the thought of possibly being denied check‑in and having to find another place at the last minute was scary. She needs customer‑service and crisis‑management training. Being kind to guests costs you nothing; you never know what people have been dealing with since 4am before they arrive at your door. Hospitality should send automated reminders if the check‑in time is rigid and non‑negotiable.
