Borgo di Santa Barbara is a scenic hotel in Santa Domenica, 2 km outside Tropea. It features air-conditioned rooms with balconies, sea views, TVs, and en-suite bathrooms. The hotel boasts a summer swimming pool with sun loungers and parasols, a pizzeria restaurant serving Calabrian specialties, and a breakfast buffet with croissants, homemade bread, and local cheeses, with free parking and beach shuttle available.

The place was quiet, spotless, and the staff and restaurant were very courteous; I’d just tweak the breakfast by adding more stations for sweet, savory, and fruit to avoid all the odors coming from the same spot.

I’m grateful for the warm hospitality of the owners and the entire staff, who responded quickly to every request and coordinated everything to make the stay flawless—thank you, Giuseppe Ambrosini. The only downside was that, having used two rooms, I noticed one lacked a bidet; that should be disclosed and reflected in the price.

The hotel is good, the breakfast is nice, and the pool is pretty but could be better maintained; the price felt a bit high for the service, and it’s more of a 3‑star than a 4‑star. The warm welcome, friendly staff, and efficient restaurant were great.
