“El peor hostal de Gran Canarias, roban las cosas.”
The owner clearly doesn’t care about guests; when I reported that someone stole my food from the fridge, which was labeled with my name, and later stole two phone chargers, she just said “sorry” and did nothing. I was about to call the police for a raid, but the two volunteers were frightened, not friendly, and seemed only interested in partying and smoking. Why didn’t she care about my theft? The hostel is a mess: the cleaning is awful, the shower water stagnates, and you can bathe in sandals with water that never dilutes. The kitchen and dining area don’t match the photos. The beds are uncomfortable, all curtains are damaged and hang poorly on hair‑pins, and the room was never cleaned, no trash taken out, no sweeping. The fan is dusty, never cleaned, and blows dust when on. They sell padlocks for lockers, but the lockers themselves are terrible. I’ve stayed in many hostels and never had to buy padlocks; they’re usually included. This hostel feels like a theft. The volunteers don’t clean well, don’t speak Spanish, and there’s no bilingual staff. One volunteer called me “crazy” when I mentioned the theft and my intention to call the police. I can’t imagine what kind of people work there. Overall, it’s the worst hostel.
