“Pleasant stay in Karimun town”
The room and bathroom were spotless, and the owner and staff were very friendly. Renting a motorbike here feels safe for beginners, especially after living in Indonesia for a long time. The common area offers endless coffee and tea, and a few minutes’ walk takes you to a fresh market (great cashews for sale), the port, three dive shops, various cafés and restaurants, and the town square. Breakfast was supposedly included, but it never appeared on the menu—perhaps it’s irregular because of Ramadan. The courtyard feels a bit grim, surrounded by high walls with only a patch of grass, which seems typical for homestays in the area. It’s also a stone’s throw from the main mosque, so the call to prayer is painfully loud.
