Wanaka Hotel, situated in Wanaka's centre, offers lake and mountain views from most rooms. The hotel features two restaurants, Amigos and The Bullock Bar Grill, and Scroggin Cafe. Guests enjoy free on-site parking, a tour desk, and communal kitchen. Rooms have a TV, work desk, and tea/coffee facilities, with en-suite bathrooms. A shared laundry and off-street parking are also available.

The room was clean when I arrived, and the staff were amazing. They installed a new, stronger shower water pressure, which was great. The bathroom door couldn’t be locked or even closed. Builders or workers were banging and doing work on Saturday, and other guests could be heard loudly shouting at each other on the first night.

I was in the middle of town, could park easily, and the old‑fashioned Kiwi Hotel was simple but solid; the nearby food spots were good and the beer selection was great. I only stayed for one night.
