Uros Maya Lodge

Mama Léa and Papa Mario gave an incredible welcome. The view was breathtaking, unlike the other floating accommodations. We had a good dinner (extra) and a good breakfast. Our hosts arranged an excursion to Taquile Island (to be done). Five duvets, a gas heater for 30 minutes, and hot water bottles will keep you warm, I assure you. The lack of hot‑water pressure is understandable, given that we’re in the middle of the world’s highest lake.

The stay was unforgettable; the view was amazing and the hosts were warm and attentive. We felt at home thanks to the wonderful welcome from mama Leia and papa Mario on their island, and we’ll always cherish these great memories.

“Uma experiência inesquecível!”

We were delighted by the beauty and comfort of the accommodations in such a simple community. The hospitality and affection of the hosts, Mama Leia and Dom Mário, also impressed us. To make the stay even more special, we had freshly prepared meals that were very tasty and well presented. Everything was perfect!

Mama Léa and Papa Mario are exceptional hosts. We had a great time with them. Their island is off the main tourist trail and very peaceful. We learned a lot about the Uros from them and enjoyed every meal. Everything was perfect, there was nothing to criticize.

I’ll never forget the way the staff treated me like family, even though the word “service” feels off. You don’t have to speak Spanish to be taken care of; they had a taxi, five duvets, a heating pad, and meals ready. You can escape the chatter of vendors and calmly admire the fabrics on display. The cabin really sits on the water (on reeds), far from the crowded Uros huts—better for kids. Here you can sip wine, watch sunrise and sunset, and recall the Milky Way’s star names. If I ever go back to Puno, I’ll pick this spot again. Even the longest stay feels too short.
