Pakulala Safari Camp - Ngorongoro

The staff at this camp were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the tents were beautifully decorated. The location is, of course, top-notch, right on the rim of the crater. However, the communication with us before our trip was a complete disaster - it took days for them to respond to our messages, and some of our questions were only answered after we'd left. To make matters worse, we were told that the GRR Camping Fee was included in the price, but this was not the case when we booked.

We were blown away by the location of this place - it's literally in the heart of the action. The staff were also top-notch, friendly and attentive, and the food was actually really good. But, and it's a big but, we paid way too much for what we got. I mean, we're talking about a tent with no facilities, which is just not worth the kind of money they're charging. It's a shame, because with a bit of investment, this place could be amazing.

“Absolut schlechtes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Traurig!”

The location of this camp is great for starting your crater adventure, as it saves you a long morning drive. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially when it came to our kids' gluten-free dietary needs. However, the camp's facilities were seriously lacking compared to other tented camps we've stayed at. There was no power outlet in the tents, just in the restaurant tent, and the bucket shower only worked if you remembered to book it in advance.

“Did what it offered very well”

Pakulala was the most budget-friendly option on the crater's rim, and it delivered on its promises. The hot water bottle they provided was a lifesaver on chilly nights, and the bucket shower system actually worked pretty well. It's not the Ritz, but for the price, it's a solid choice.

“This was the perfect and position for me”

This place has got to be one of the best-located spots I've ever stayed at. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. And, to be honest, there's not much else to say, because everything else was pretty much perfect.
