“Adequate but disappointing. Not recommended!”

The pool area was nice and the weather was good – that's about it. Breakfast was mediocre at best. We booked a three‑night stay and after two hours the host accused us of stealing a bath mat! “David, when guests steal from me they usually do it on the last day, not the first day.” In fact he had misplaced it – as we suggested – and it turned up the next day. No apology! The description of the sleeping accommodation is misleading; it implies there are two queen beds in a “Double Room,” but there are not. In total there are two bedrooms – one upstairs and one downstairs – each with one queen bed only and no TV. There is a futon bed in the downstairs lounge, and the occupants of the downstairs bedroom must walk through this lounge – privacy is a problem for the futon user. Downstairs is just an old basement with no bathroom. The shared toilet/shower is upstairs. There is no handrail on the steps down to the lower level from outside, and it is poorly lit – a definite safety issue that needs addressing.

“Je ne recommande jamais cet établissement”

The setting is gorgeous – the sunset over the hills and the fact that it’s only a 15‑minute drive from town are real highlights. Unfortunately the stay was riddled with issues: we couldn’t get into the house between 10 am and 4 pm because the owner said he lacked insurance, and the listing didn’t match reality – there’s no double bedroom, just a king‑size bed and a futon in the living room, with the only TV also in the lounge.

“It was interesting as it being our first B&B”

The place is quiet and the view is really nice, and the staff are friendly enough to make you feel welcome. The only real downside was that the pool was broken during our visit, so we couldn’t use it at all.

We loved the scenery and found the house spotless, especially the bathroom, and the bedroom bed was super comfortable. Terry served tasty breakfasts and was respectful of our space, always ready with good tips and pleasant conversation. The only hiccup was the spiral staircase inside – it took a little getting used to, but it never became a real problem.
