After two road trips through France and northern Spain, I can say that this place was the best stay we ever had, only second to two private spots we knew. The hosts, the accommodation, breakfast, dinner, and the location itself are simply outstanding! Nothing to complain about.

“We intend to return early next year it was that good.”

We came in June on a road trip to Spain and tried to book a room on the way back; we were so impressed but couldn’t get one. We stayed three nights and wish it had been longer. What a wonderful place, food, and location—all perfect. Sandor was a fantastic host and an excellent cook. The only thing that was perfect was the place itself.

“Een verborgen parel in alle opzichten!”

An oasis of calm in the French countryside. A stunningly renovated building with great taste and attention to detail. The two hosts offered optimal service and genuine hospitality—one full of fascinating stories, the other an excellent chef. Start the day with a varied breakfast featuring plenty of fresh fruit and local products, finish with a delicious dinner and good wine in the patio. A lovely garden with comfortable seating and patio furniture. By a small river where you can take a relaxing canoe trip; even waterproof shoes are provided. That’s how it should be. Rarely do you get this price/quality ratio. After a month of traveling with many different types of accommodation, this was by far the best. We felt like gods in France, and a score of 10 doesn’t even cover it—you’d give it a 20. No negative points.

“Superlative”

The place is an absolute gem, with owners who are incredibly helpful, surroundings that are gorgeous, and rooms that are spotless. The food and wine are top‑quality and great value, and the breakfast spread is unmatched in all my travels. Le Bastion deserves every one of those 10/10 points.
