The location is great, just 5 minutes from the train station, the breakfast is very fine and plentiful, and the hosts are friendly.

We picked this place because we wanted a quiet rural stay with a nice view, and the Hotel Saentis delivered on that; it was a 9‑minute slightly uphill walk from the main train station, which was easier when we weren’t lugging suitcases, even if they were small. The owner let us store our luggage before check‑in and gave us keys to return after our outing. When we came back, the rooms were ready; we had one question and it was easy to call the proprietors for an answer. The rooms were clean, spacious, and had a lovely balcony overlooking fields, a school athletic complex, and the Alpstein range. I travel to Switzerland every year, and the breakfast here was probably the best overall I’ve had—plenty of fresh fruit, cheese, meat, bread, cereal, savory items, and they even cooked eggs to order, which the guys in my group loved. Teufen was a perfect base to explore the Appenzell area and the town itself. I highly recommend the Koller Baeckerei for its “mock bacon” cinnamon confection. Some of us took evening walks in the countryside, and all of us enjoyed the balconies with views of cats in the field, hay gathering, soccer games, and more. The pictures matched reality, and it was a delightful stay. Everything was super!

The breakfast was very loving and tasty, served in a beautiful dining room with a view of the landscape, and the hotel is run by a very attentive and considerate couple, making us feel very comfortable.

The hosts were amazing and made us feel right at home; the breakfast was outstanding with fresh fruit, avocado, and eggs available on demand, and we absolutely loved it. No complaints.
