The price was good, but the breakfast service left something to be desired.

Everything was exceptionally clean, yet there was absolutely nothing else that stood out.

A staff member who seems to be an owner welcomed me at the entrance and guided me to my room, explaining that breakfast would start at 8 am and offering a cooked option for a small fee; I chose the continental set-up because I was meeting friends for brunch. The room was suitable for a solo traveler and could accommodate a couple, featuring a small TV, tea and coffee facilities, and an ensuite bathroom that justified the cost. I would definitely return. On the downside, the front‑facing room let in road noise, though I always use earplugs so it didn’t bother me after bed. The blinds didn’t fully block the window, letting street lights and morning sun spill into the room. The parking lot in front of the hotel is tiny, which was manageable for my small car but would be hard to enter if other cars were already parked.

The value for money was good, but the station is a bit far when arriving by train; the neighbourhood feels lifeless, far from restaurants and shops; the full English breakfast isn’t offered—just tea with three toasts and jam; Carlisle itself offers little tourist interest compared to Durham, Whitby or York.
