A cool, authentic hotel with its own large courtyard right in the city center. We wanted a traditional feel to really capture the atmosphere of China, and it hit the mark. The rooms were cozy and felt private, very quiet and secluded. The manager at reception was great and easily handled a Taobao order for us. Communication with staff, like everywhere in China, was through a translator. We had an early morning flight and were checked in a few hours early, for which we thank them. Breakfast was traditional Chinese, not for everyone, but it was the only option in such a place, and we always found something to eat, which was interesting. The location is just amazing: 2 minutes to the green metro line, to the main pedestrian street, all shops and cafés, 10 minutes to another metro line, and 15 minutes on foot to the Forbidden City. I’m already planning a return. Everything was great.
