I was initially drawn to this hotel because of its proximity to the beach, but unfortunately, it failed to meet my expectations in many other areas.
The hotel's location in Ilfracombe was beautiful, but the hotel itself was a different story.

“It’s a shame the hotel is dated and grubby as the staff are lovely. We left a day early as we’re not comfortable on the”
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, but the place felt dated and dirty, the bathroom wasn’t clean, the lift was out of order the whole time which made it hard for my husband with his bad ankle, and we were told we could move rooms but the other one wasn’t as nice.
“Good location but questionable cleanliness and comfort”
The staff were friendly and gave good parking tips, but there was a stain on the pillow, the room smelled like bacon, each floor had a different bad odor as you went up, and overall the room wasn’t clean.

The spot is great and the price is good, but the bed was small yet still comfortable. The room, however, smelled awful and the radiator had a leak.

We left because there was no toilet seat lid, the bed was wobbly, the carpet looked black, the room had a horrible musty smell, there were splats on the wall above the headboard, a filler on the wall by the window, and both parking and breakfast were pricey.
“Not Very Grand Hotel”
The reception was miserable, and the attic room had very small single beds. The shower was slow and only lukewarm, even though there were signs warning about hot water. The old sash windows wouldn’t open properly. I counted 87 steps to the room, three flights of stairs made harder by the lift out of order. The overall appearance was shabby and musty.
