Our expectations were met. There’s a kitchen and a shared dining hall where you can prepare your own meals, and ample parking is available in front of the building. The rooms have everything you need but are quite compact; for a single night that’s perfectly fine.

Guesthouse Mikael worked well for our overnight stay in Hofn. The shared kitchen and communal dining lounge were handy for cooking and eating, and the bed was large and comfortable with good shower pressure. We enjoyed a great burger by the marina, and the location is central for hikes to Stokksnes or the Viking Cafe. A tip: the Vestrahorn viewpoint, where the reflection appears at low tide, lies between Hofn and the Viking Cafe; it’s a small pull‑off spot that’s easy to miss, contrary to what my searches suggested. The downside was that our room was near the lounge, and a group was socializing there late into the evening; a polite reminder to keep noise down would help.

The property is equipped with a kitchen and a common room for guests, and the Nespresso machine in the room was highly appreciated. The room itself is too small and the bathroom has a shower curtain.

Great location and bed itself was comfortable. I knew we booked a small room but it was really small with one side of bed up against the wall so hard for 2 people to be comfortable if one had to get up during the night. No place to sit other than the bed unless you used the common sitting area. Thought price was high for what was more of a hostel like experience
