Don’t book this place. The owner is a meth addict and dealer; every morning people were smoking meth in the living room. He stole almost 100 € plus a phone from us. For your safety, don’t stay here and don’t trust him. While we were there, he was arrested and police were in the house. He’s a dangerous person who owes money to many people and will lie to you in every way to take money for his drug debts or for meth. This is not a safe place.

The place feels welcoming, and Nuwa goes out of his way to make guests feel at home, arranging everything from a safari to the elephant park to a jeep that picks us up at the hostel and takes us on a tour before returning us at a great price. He also found a tuk‑tuk for a city tour and later drove us to the bus stop. He’s young, eager to do well, and the room rates are even lower than what other Sri Lankan accommodations offer, which is impressive.

The host really worked hard to give us a pleasant stay, and we had a lot of fun when Nuwa took us to a lake for a swim!
