The spot next to the Shijo Karasuma junction has metro and bus links, and the Nishiki market is within walking distance, which is a bonus. Breakfast is free, but it’s quite basic: just coffee, a few buns and croissants. Adding butter, jam, and some juice would improve it, yet the complimentary breakfast is appreciated. The onsen is tiny, suitable for 2‑3 people, and there’s a small sauna as well.

The staff are attentive, the place is spotless, and it’s easily accessible. It’s in the city center with excellent transport connections. The public Japanese baths are a pity because you can’t enter if you have tattoos; I would have liked to try them.

The hotel sits in 四条烏丸 and the price is reasonable. The bed feels comfortable. Even though the building is old, the rooms were clean and I would stay again. The electronic lock on the women’s bath didn’t work, which made me a bit uneasy.
