Very uncomfortable mattresses made it hard to fall asleep. The air conditioner barely worked, the apartment almost didn’t cool.

The spot can’t be beaten – it sits in the historic Latin quarter that’s always buzzing. Despite the traffic, the apartment stayed surprisingly quiet, and the courtyard offered a calm break in the middle of the city. We were a family of four with two little kids, so we loved both the location and the room. After seeing a few unfair reviews, we were worried, but Maikel’s quick replies put us at ease and the place turned out fine. The Parisian scent was barely noticeable compared to other stays, and the original walls and beams added nice character. It was a bit pricey for a small flat, but it was July in Paris, hot as it was, and the AC unit plus two fans kept us comfortable.

We really liked it – comfortable and central. Nothing else.

The spot was central. The metro (and RER) station just a 2‑minute walk from the apartment was the stop you’d use for Notre Dame, La Sainte Chapelle, and the Latin Quarter. With kids who can only handle so many scheduled activities and need bathrooms more often, this let us come and go freely, change plans, rest during the heat, and even watch a movie. The beds worked for our family, and the kitchen had enough gear to make coffee, breakfast, and several random lunches or dinners. The courtyard stayed quiet even though it’s a tourist hotspot. Staff were helpful and attentive. In the future we’ll stay a bit farther out into a regular Parisian neighborhood; even four blocks south would put us in a different restaurant crowd, local bakery, etc. To escape the crowds we had to walk farther for a simple neighborhood spot. Given the short stay and last‑minute hotel hunt, it worked well. The space was pretty small overall. While it can fit four people, it might be better for those using the loft bed and keeping the couch as a couch rather than a bed. It was generally warm (90‑95°F during the day), the AC was a small unit, and there’s only one door/window space; airflow could have helped pull the hot air out, but that’s the building design. We slept with some great fans.
