Great location at the quiet end of town overlooking the canal and ropeway. Quirky with a spacious room and nice veranda outlook. It would have been used to have use of a basin upstairs

I was thrilled to find the cable car right nearby and the onsen was open late, letting me soak well into the night.

“Cozy unique stay”

This stay felt like a fresh experience compared to any other Japanese trip I've taken; the room, tucked above a small bookstore‑restaurant, had a cozy vibe that made me feel like I was living above a family shop. We were in the upper floor, and our balcony offered a nice view. The place sits a bit toward the end of town but is still close to a major onsen. The staff were friendly and handed us local tips plus a free drink card for the shop, which we used that evening and enjoyed chatting with the staff. On the downside, the room shares a toilet down the hall, and the walls are thin, so we heard the shop below and street noise until the shop closed around 12 pm. The beds and pillows were also not very comfortable.

There was no shower inside, so we had to go out to a public bath.

The house is very comfortable and quiet. Everything was perfect.
