Fontana La Pietra

“Great base for visiting the region”

We booked two nights in room 17 at Agritourismo Fontana La Pietra, right in the countryside near Pisticci, and it was a fantastic stay. Roberto welcomed us warmly when we arrived, and the lady who runs the restaurant was also friendly and attentive during breakfast. The room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable, with everything we needed. We loved watching the farm animals—dogs, cats, donkeys, and horses—and especially appreciated the 12 pm check‑in, which was perfect because we were coming straight from Matera and wanted to drop off our luggage and head out for sightseeing. The location was ideal for a half‑day trip to Craco on day one and a full day of self‑driving to Anglona, Tursi, Rabatana, Montalbano Jonico, and Pisticci on day two. We wish we could have stayed longer to explore even more of the region and to use the pool, which we missed. Highly recommended.

“Soggiorno tranquillo e sereno”

The place is solid, located close to the state road, and there are no shortcomings because the owners manage it well.

“Mooie accommodatie voor actieve mensen.”

The stay was peaceful, the facilities great for active people, teens, and kids, which helped us sleep well. Two cute puppies made the visit very cozy. The staff were super friendly and did everything they could to make us comfortable. The town of Pisticci is beautiful, and you can do lovely, intensive hikes around. The location is hard to reach; the exit to the site requires a lot of attention from the highway. Currently, the selection is mixed for those who like sweets. We missed a boiled egg, cheese, and cold cuts.

The room comfort, toiletries, breakfast, large pool, and animals were great. Getting there was difficult.

The complex is versatile. It gets somewhat noisy in the evening, and the communal dining area is a bit disappointing. At night, dogs bark loudly, the breakfast is weaker, and the coffee is bad.
