We did not appreciate seeing the proprietor’s Palestinian flag displayed over the railing facing the street outside our breakfast room; we were forced to look at it. The proprietor tried to be a good host at breakfast but hovered about a foot away in the cramped space instead of serving us and letting us converse. We found it offensive to have a Palestinian flag and wondered how the owners would have treated us if we had Israeli passports; the flag, while not antisemitic on its face, has that effect on many Jews and made us feel unwelcome.

The breakfast was excellent! A lot of effort went into ensuring there was enough for everyone and that everyone liked it. The location was very central and a tourist information office was just around the corner. It was wonderful; there was nothing we didn’t like.

“Felt like a home away fro home.”

The place was very clean and roomy, just a short walk to the main pedestrian street. Manlio proved to be an excellent host, and we only wish we could have extended our stay.

“Très bon séjour à Palerme et ses environs.”

The host’s friendliness and French language skills were great, and the accommodation’s location in Palermo’s historic centre was convenient. The only downside was the stairs, which can be a challenge for people who have difficulty moving.
