We loved how friendly the staff were, the breakfast was delicious, and we spotted 16 species of birds; the place felt quaint and the gardens were beautiful, though the mattress was hard, it still let us sleep well.

I went for work and training, and the location kept me close to the training venue; the room, called LECHUZA, is a wooden structure with masonry walls, very cozy, with a nice bathroom and hot water; breakfast was tasty, I had a cup of coffee with milk, cheese and ham bread, and eggs, all delicious; the most beautiful part was the tranquility in the green areas, the swings, they bring a lot of peace and calm; and Mrs. Zayra and her son were always ready to help people, thank you; and something I value a lot, I was thirsty at night and Mrs. Zayra took the trouble to bring me a bottle of water and a soda, I’m very grateful for that detail and kindness; when you go to Puembo in Quito, stay at Zaysant.

The grounds were pretty; our cabin was spacious and homey with nice decor, a nice hammock on our porch and around the people; there were two empty pool‑type spaces, one of which was quite an eyesore; the cabin was fairly dark and didn’t have nightstands; this was the only place that didn’t have fresh water in the cabin, only tap; they only delivered one set of towels when there were two of us; there were bird feeders around the property but they were empty so we didn’t see the birds that others had described; lunch was good but dinner was not and the family ignores us in favor of their visiting cousins; most places we’d stayed in had boxed breakfast for early departures but they only had us two rolls; I even had to ask for a bag; not sure what happened to the maintenance and service here as it had such good reviews but it’s clearly declined; finally, it turns out the place is in the flight path for the airport so airplanes were constantly roaring overhead.

The single rooms are small, with no desk or area to put luggage; no heat, but you can ask for a heater; bed/linens are good, bathroom fine, certainly adequate; the much larger lodge rooms are excellent – large space, well‑furnished, comfortable bed and excellent bathroom; meals are adequate – breakfast and lunch fine, dinners a little sparse with entree only, no salad or dessert; personnel kind and responsive; cute little chihuahuas that are non‑obtrusive; very safe and secure – don’t worry about the poor areas you must drive through to get there; it’s a haven, beautiful gardens, but you must ask to put feeders out.

The single rooms are not great – very small, not enough electrical outlets, no desk, and very cold, up a steep stairs; the cabins are excellent – large rooms, comfortable beds, and a nice desk for working; meals are ok – entree only, no salad, vegetable, or dessert; grounds are lovely, but we needed to ask to have bananas put out and feeders for hummingbirds filled; lovely flowers, sweet little chihuahuas; as above.
