“Great people, great food.”

Sam and Briony, who welcomed and served us, were spot on—very friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were great, but the bed felt a bit uncomfortable and there was no shower gel or shampoo in the shower.

Seeing family again after 13 years was nice, and it was good to revisit familiar places.

“DefInite not my idea of 4 star boutique rooms only 2 star”

The spot near Beamish Museum is handy, and the local pub is always packed. The food was decent. The bed frame was too large for the room and kept banging my legs off it, and the mattress was too soft. A private party in the building made the noise terrible, rattling everything in my room, though it stopped before 11 pm. The bathroom, corridor, and carpets all need updating. The stairs are very shallow, which isn’t good if you have any mobility issues. The price was reasonable, but overall it feels more like a 2‑star place.

“Good location, value for money, friendly/helpful staff.”

Clean room, large towels. Close to main road network, easy to find, parking. In town with bus and train access. Good location for exploring this area - Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham etc. Good value for money. Popular place with various activities and good ‘pub grub’. Friendly and helpful staff. Would have been nice to have some chairs in the room but likely room not big enough. Damp on windows in morning - looked like had been wiped down when returned to room later in evening by cleaner
